Welcome to Freeport – our first industry specific Careers & Community platform. We are so pleased that you have found us. 

We want you to get the best out of our community. To do that, we may ask you to provide information about yourself or your company. You need to know what that means. Reading this Privacy Policy, our Terms of Service and our Cookie Policy is a great place to start. 

The long story short, if you continue to browse our website or sign up to our platform, you are agreeing to be bound by, and comply with, our Privacy Policy, which together with our Cookie Policy and Terms of Service, governs our relationship with you.

What data do we need to collect to help you?
The simple answer is, only the data or information you choose to provide to us through our platform. That information is likely to include your contact information (name, address, email address and telephone number), business name, website information, employment history and location. 

Through your activity on our platform, we may collect information about your device, actions taken or posted within the community, any searches you may run, connections you make, groups or forums you create or comment upon and any jobs or opportunities you advertise or apply for. 

Because your privacy is important to us, we are committed to protecting and safeguarding your data. We only process personal data as necessary and to provide our services to you. 

Why do we need to process this data?
By better understanding how our members engage with our platform and interact with our community, we can help and assist you by improving our service and keeping things relevant.

To do this, we may collect additional data in the aggregate to provide latest news, industry updates, events and support. Please note: this aggregated data does not contain personally identifiable information. 

How do we collect the data we use?
The only personal data we collect is the information you provide. When you apply for membership, as an individual or as a business, you provide the necessary information required to obtain membership, including any payment and information contained within your profile. 

By providing this information to Freeport you are giving consent to Freeport to process and store your personal data. 

We can collect additional data from your use of, or interaction with, our platform. This may include posts on the News Feed, comments within Groups or Forums and interactions with other members. Additionally, we may come across your data if it is shared with third parties such as social media, the internet, agencies, educators or training providers. 

If we do find your data via a third party, we will contact you directly and obtain your permission before processing or sharing the same. 

How do we protect and share your data?
Freeport is referred to as a ‘Data Controller’ and has a legal responsibility to use the data we collect, safely and appropriately. Personal data is stored on servers held securely in the UK. 

We only keep your data for as long as is necessary and to provide our services to you. We adhere to all legal requirements but may need to retain some data to comply with our own legal and financial disclosures. 

We do not share your data with third parties, expect where it is necessary or required by law or you have instructed the platform to do so. 

An example of this would be a Business Member, accepting and engaging with an Individual Member who has applied for an opportunity or job and where both parties then subsequently exchange personal information and liaise directly to a conclusion.  

Another example would be an Individual or a Business Member or a combination of the two, engaging in conversation within a Freeport group, forum or event and having subsequently connected within the platform, engage in business directly or via a third party or associate.

Do you have a right to request a copy?
Absolutely. You can also log-in and access your profile data at any time, so long as your membership is valid. That will enable you to review and update your data or delete your profile entirely. 

You can ask us to do it for you, but that means we will no longer be able to assist you and although it is unlikely, there may be some personal data we need to keep for legal reasons.

Our Freeport platform may contain links to other websites, businesses or third parties. 

Where there is no notification of an affiliation, it must be accepted that the website or third party is neither affiliated with nor part of Freeport. We cannot therefore be responsible for their terms, policies and procedures and how they may use, store or record your personal data and as such, ask you to be careful when providing your personal data, as you would with any other business, website or third party.
